This August, the Los Angeles Philharmonic invites Angelenos on a vibrant, three-night journey into the heart of Mexican music and culture with Mexican Nights, an outdoor concert series at The Ford amphitheater in the Cahuenga Pass.

Part of the LA Phil’s 2025 Latin Music Concert Series, Mexican Nights brings together legendary performers, traditional dancers, and rising young artists to celebrate the romance, rhythms, and regional pride that define Mexican heritage. Held under the stars at one of L.A.’s most iconic venues, each night offers a unique expression of the Mexican spirit—through boleros, mariachi, and the colorful artistry of wedding serenades and folkloric dance.

AUGUST 7 – Leyendas del Mariachi: Icons of a National Treasure
Experience mariachi royalty as legendary musicians from Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, Los Camperos, Nuevo Tecalitlán, Mariachi Cobre, and more come together in an unprecedented, powerhouse performance. A must-see for fans of traditional Mexican music.

AUGUST 16 – Serenatas y Bodas de México: Dance, Identity, and Celebration
Over 30 dancers from Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company and Teocalli Ballet Folklórico, plus youth ensemble Mariachi Tesoro de San Fernando, celebrate Mexico’s unique wedding traditions. The evening concludes with the world premiere of a piece honoring the Muxes of Oaxaca, a moving tribute to gender diversity in Zapotec culture.

See 'AUGUST 29' Commemorating when LA Times Columnist Ruben Salazar Was Killed

Latino Theater Company joins forces with the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy to present August 29, named for the date in 1970 when Los Angeles Times columnist Ruben Salazar was killed while covering a large Chicano-led anti-war demonstration in East L.A. A university professor relives those late 1960s, early 1970s movement days while writing a book on the life of Salazar, who comes to life to help her recall the past and to challenge her to renew her activism.  A showing of the short film Requiem 29, presenting footage of the Chicano Moratorium Against the War in Vietnam including the brutal police response, and later funeral and inquest into the death of Salazar, will screen prior to each performance. Following performances at The LATC, the production will travel to East Los Angeles College and Mt. San Antonio College.

Los Angeles Comes Together to Support Texas Flood Victims

In response to the devastating flooding in Texas, Norm Langer, owner of Los Angeles’ iconic Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant, is calling on Angelenos to join him in a day of action and giving.

On Saturday, July 12, Langer’s will host “Help Texas Day,” a one-day, community-wide event to raise support for families affected by the tragedy. Donations collected will benefit the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country — a trusted nonprofit already providing relief on the ground.

As a parent and grandparent, my heart is broken,” said Langer. I’ve spoken with staff and customers all week — everyone wants to help but doesn’t know how. This is our chance to come together and make a real difference.” Langer’s will make it easy for everyone to participate:

As a thank-you, all donors — whether they give $1 or $1,000 — will receive a free beverage of their choice (no purchase necessary, dine-in only).
