Dylanfest: Bob Dylan Tribute Festival

$10-$40  | May 11, 2025 | 12:00PM - 5:00PM
James R. Armstrong Theatre, Torrance Cultural Arts Center

Award-winning singers/songwriters Andy Hill and Renee Safier will bring their Annual Bob Dylanfest back to its popular Torrance setting on Sunday, May 11th.

With some 60 iconic Bob Dylan-composed songs, performed by the duo’s band, Hard Rain, and dozens of other musicians, this outdoor festival has become a must-attend event for fans from throughout Southern California and beyond.

The music—with no songs repeated—goes from noon until 8 p.m. on the Torino Plaza of the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, 3330 Civic Center Drive.

This family-friendly celebration includes a free souvenir program and beverages and food for purchase. There will be plenty of parking, at no charge.

What began as a small backyard party with talented Bob Dylan fans taking turns performing his music has evolved into an eight-hour festival attended by hundreds and featuring some of the L.A. area’s top musicians. This year will mark the event’s 35th appearance.

Besides Hill and Safier and Hard Rain, performers this year will include top L.A. session musician Marty Rifkin, who has toured with Bruce Springsteen, acclaimed Folk musician Joel Rafael, LA Rockabilly staple James Intveld, and former John Fogerty sideman Bob Malone. They will be among the more than 60 accomplished musicians who will perform some of America’s most loved songs by Nobel laureate Dylan.

The selections include interpretations of material that cover a broad spectrum of Dylan’s musical styles. Some audience members like to attend in costumes representing themes or characters in his songs. (Think “Tangled Up In Blue”, or “Just Like A Woman”, or “Like a Rolling Stone”).

📍 Hillel at UCLA
🗓️ Now through June 18, 2025
🕘 Open Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

As student activism faces increasing backlash across U.S. campuses, this powerful photo exhibit challenges the dominant narratives around Zionism. Photographer Shlomit Levy Bard traveled throughout Israel—Haifa, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beersheva, and along the Gaza border—capturing the faces and voices of over 60 Israelis from diverse backgrounds: Jewish, Muslim, Druze, and Christian.

Through intimate portraits and personal testimony, the exhibit invites students and visitors to explore the complexity of Zionism in the aftermath of October 7. It confronts ideological binaries and opens space for real conversation.

5th Annual Beach Day Clean-Up

In honor of Earth Day, Branding Los Angeles is proud to host its 5th Annual Beach Clean-Up on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica (Parking Lot 5), beginning at 8:00 AM. What began five years ago as a small internal team initiative has grown into a meaningful community tradition that brings together creatives, families, students, and local residents around a shared purpose: to protect and preserve the beauty of our coastline. This event has become a reflection of our agency’s values and our belief that every brand has a responsibility to give back - not just to its community, but to the planet we all share. For us, this clean-up is more than an event - it’s a statement of gratitude, care, and action. Over the past four years, our efforts have removed hundreds of pounds of waste from the beach, kept harmful debris out of the ocean, and educated our participants on the importance of sustainability.

Our agency believes that great branding starts with integrity, and part of that integrity means showing up for our city and our environment. We invite you to join us for a morning of impact, connection, and community. Volunteers will receive complimentary coffee, pastries, cleanup supplies, and commemorative t-shirts. Bring your friends, your kids, or come solo and meet like-minded change-makers. Let’s celebrate Earth Day together and continue building a legacy of care, creativity, and collective action.

Ashes to Anthems: The Dena Benefit Concert & Resource Fair

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the city of Altadena will come alive with music, unity, and purpose as Pasadena Memorial Park transforms into the heartbeat of healing and resilience. Ashes to Anthems: The Dena Benefit Concert & Resource Fair is a powerful response to tragedy—rooted in faith, driven by culture, and fueled by the collective strength of a resilient community.

In the aftermath of the devastating Eaton fires that wiped out 80% of homes and displaced hundreds of residents, a group of dedicated partners—including Victory Bible Church, SoLa Foundation, Shared Harvest Foundation, the NAACP Pasadena, Clergy Community Coalition, Legacy Land Project, and Palm Leaf—came together with one goal: to rebuild lives, preserve legacy, and restore hope.

For Victory Bible Church, the heartbreak was especially personal. Over 40 members of the congregation lost their homes. That loss became the catalyst for this unprecedented event, merging recovery with celebration, and compassion with impact.

“At a time when our city is facing some of its greatest challenges, our attention must turn back to those who need it most. This benefit concert is about more than music—it’s about restoring hope, spreading joy, and uniting our community. Music is a universal language that reaches the heart, and through it, we want to uplift Altadena, provide vital resources, and create a space where families, kids, and teens can experience something truly life-giving. Altadena is resilient, and this concert is a declaration that we will continue to rise together.,” said Pastor Jon of Victory Bible Church.

The event will span 10 hours of programming, combining a powerful mix of entertainment, direct aid, and essential resources. Performances by Grammy Award-winning artist Andra Day as well as nationally recognized and local artists backed by the National Black Musicians Coalition Celebrity House Band, while a Resource Fair will provide everything from housing support and mental health care to legal aid and children’s programming. For many displaced families, this will be the first major step toward stability and healing.

Paper shredding and e-waste pickup will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and children of all ages can participate in the egg hunts and enjoy the variety of activities offered throughout the day.

“This spring event offers a great mix of fun activities and local waste disposal resources,” said Community Services Deputy Director Kywanna Bowie. “Drop off old electronics and unwanted paper products, and have some fun while you’re at it!”

The event is rain or shine and is free to the public. Community members interested in volunteering or seeking more information can call (310) 349-1640 or visit the Hawthorne Memorial Center.

City of Lynwood Hosts Free Oil Filter Recycling Event

The City of Lynwood, in partnership with the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), will host a used oil filter recycling event on Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at AutoZone (11833 Atlantic Ave). Residents who bring in a used oil filter can exchange it for a free replacement filter (while supplies last).

The City encourages residents to take part in this environmentally significant event. Even a small amount of oil can contaminate large bodies of water, making proper disposal critical.

  • ID required: Attendees must provide identification to verify residency.

  • Voucher system: Upon recycling, residents will receive a voucher redeemable during event hours, while supplies last.

  • Additional recycling: Participants can also recycle up to five gallons of used motor oil alongside filters.
