NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--Inglewood Airport Area Chamber of Commerce (IAACC) will host Women Business Leaders Champions of Change on June 13, 2019. The event will honor a couple of business owners and two municipal employees. Why is IAACC hosting so many events, charging thousands to potential sponsors and more importantly, who is really benefiting financially from their costly events?

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--The following is excerpted from a letter sent by the Miracle Mile Residential Association to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in advance of their vote on April 9, 2019 to certify the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for LACMA’s redo of the museum. NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--The Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro continues to move forward with extensive development that will create jobs and bring new restaurants, retail stores, and a large entertainment venue to the waterfront.  

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--This week’s Inglewood city council agenda has some peculiar items on there.   Ranging from fleet additions, increased legal fees and the creation of a newly formed joint powers authority, residents are still a distant thought as there is no item pertaining to a rent stabilization ordinance. 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--It is not an exaggeration to say EVERYONE in my district, constituents and councilmembers, who've seen the figures for how much these HHH developments are costing want to know why their tax dollars are going to build bridge or permanent supportive housing at costs that exceed what developers are charging to build luxury condos in the area.   

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--Inglewood city council resumes tomorrow, January 22nd, with a light agenda. A few items, and a lack thereof, have caught the eye of 2UrbanGirls. 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--To introduce myself, I am the owner of numerous small apartment buildings in the Venice area totaling some 86 units and also live in Venice and am very negatively impacted by the campers.

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--The city of Inglewood continues to increase the number of WOW Media Digital Billboards across select sections of the city.

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--Is Inglewood Mayor James Butts giving residents “false hope” over their impending rental increases? 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--In a last-minute special meeting just days before residents celebrate Christmas, the Hawthorne City Council voted unanimously to appoint and swear in a resident to the vacant City Council seat. 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--“We are here to improve and overcome our differences,“ said LAUSD Local District Central Superintendent Robert Martinez (Photo above). 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--Last night, Friends of Griffith Park (FoGP), together with the Griffith J. Griffith Charitable Trust, and the Los Feliz Oaks Homeowners Association filed an appellate response in a continued effort challenging the City of Los Angeles’ 2017 decision to close the Beachwood Gate to the Hollyridge Trail in Griffith Park.  Today’s response challenged several half-truths and inaccuracies that the City Attorney has continued to claim in its appeals brief filed in November 2018. 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--Inglewood City Manager Artie Fields is missing in action.  This weeks jam packed city council agenda includes another round of important documents being signed by his Deputy Yakema Decatur and not her $300,000+salaried boss.

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--This was forwarded to me by a friend. "Abundant Housing" is having a meeting this coming Tuesday to organize potential candidates for NC elections in the Spring.   

VOICES--I have hardly missed any meeting since the forming committee in 2001.

A group called the Westsiders Opposed to Overdevelopment had challenged the planning approvals, arguing that the City did not have the authority to change the land use designation by initiating a General Plan Amendment for a single project site.

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--My name is Marvin McCoy, a long-time resident of Inglewood California. 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS — A tenant at 171 S. Burlington Avenue in the Westlake District was evicted from their apartment today after failing to pay rent, according to a spokesman for the property managers, FML Management Co. 

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--For some reason high level city administrators are not signing legal documents related to properties owned by the Inglewood Successor Agency and have opted to leave that duty up to the deputy to City Manager Artie Fields.

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--The Los Angeles City Council has voted to designate the William Pereira-designed CBS Television City complex in Los Angeles as an official city historic-cultural monument, paving the way for the complex to be preserved or adaptively reused as redevelopment talks for the 25-acre site heat up.

NEIGHBORHOOD POLITICS--Is Inglewood Mayor James Butts indirectly benefiting from his assistant’s exorbitant salary increases as he did with his brother’s employment with RepublicServices?
