Ciclavia - Heart of LA

This Sunday, October 10, from 9 AM to 4 PM, we will be walking, biking, skating, riding, and enjoying the open streets at CicLAvia–Heart of LA!

Wondering what to expect? Whether this is your first event or your 37th, read on for details, activities, safety information, and more.

Activities Along the Route

All four Hubs have free water stations and restrooms, a First Aid booth, food trucks, bike parking (brought to you by Amazon), free bike repair, and free pedicab rides to other Hubs. The pedicabs stop at each Info Booth; just look for the sign and enjoy the ride!

We have A LOT planned for 10/10:

  • A roaming photo crew will be snapping pictures near Little Tokyo – stop by and get a quick glamour shot or a group selfie.

  • The LACMA booth will showcase the Obama Portraits Tour and Black American Portraits exhibitions opening November 7. Get an art kit with a portrait-making activity and art supplies (while supplies last). And take your picture in front of the portrait wall.

  • For a fun way to explore the route, CicLAvia partnered with Niantic for Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite apps to discover special in-game locations around the Heart of LA route.

And we're working on a lot more... Take a look at the full list of activities we have in store so you don't miss a thing!

Don't Miss Dessert

This is really something special. By purchasing a 10/10 birthday treat at any (or all) of these bakeries, you'll receive a limited edition CicLAvia button! It's a great way to support a local business and collect CicLAvia swag.

  • Phoenix Bakery (Chinatown)
  • Uli’s Gelato (DTLA)
  • Café Dulce (Little Tokyo)
  • La Soledad Bakery (MacArthur Park)
  • Boyle Heights Community Market (make a purchase and stop by the Mariachi Plaza Info Booth to collect the 5th button)

Each location carries a different birthday button – try to collect all five! Find each business (and our other activities) on our interactive map.

What To Know Before You Go

Deciding how to get to the route? Check out the details here.

To navigate the streets safely, make sure you read our Rules of the Route. Our events allow people-powered transportation: skates, bikes, skateboards, scooters, and your own feet. (Or you can visit a Hub on its own.) Motorized vehicles aren't allowed, except for participants with disabilities. Many types of e-bikes are allowed – learn more here.

You're sharing the road with others who may be walking or biking or taking a selfie, so be mindful and maintain a safe speed. And wear a helmet! (If you're under 18, it's the law.) At the Chinatown Hub, CHP will be giving out free helmets for anyone under 18, while supplies last. And our partners Spin at MacArthur Park and El Centro de Ayuda at Mariachi Plaza, will be giving away helmets as well – for all ages.

We're closely following LA County Public Health guidelines as we approach the event. We encourage everyone to bring a mask – whether to wear on the route or to be prepared for indoor places (public transit or restaurants & shops along the route) that require masking for everyone.

You can even get your free Covid-19 vaccination at CicLAvia! Just visit the free pop-up vaccine clinics at the MacArthur Park Hub and Mariachi Plaza Hub. No appointment needed.

And if you still have questions, feel free to send us an email.
