WHAT: The 15th annual Municipal Green Building Conference and Expo (MGBCE) is Southern California’s longest running and largest sustainability and green building event focused on the needs and concerns of municipalities. A key U.S. Green Building Council-Los Angeles (USGBC-LA) event, MGBCE draws approx. 500 people from 75 Southern California-area municipalities, all of which are striving to integrate sustainability into municipal action, especially in light of the effect of climate change on local water resources.
Hosted annually, for free, by SoCal Gas and the USGBC-LA, this year’s event theme is Water Resilience for Cities. The theme reflects the recent launch of USGBC-LA’s “Building Resilience-L.A.” initiative that will deliver a Building Resilience-L.A. Guide, along with a South Los Angeles case study, to be presented at the October Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in L.A.
Panel topics span a range of issues – here are a few:
- L.A. Lakers Headquarters: Where Sports Meets Sustainability
- Design for Livability: Housing Innovation for Seniors & Vets
- Out of Thin Air: Making fresh water from the air using atmospheric water generation
- Developer VS. City Sustainable Buildings Advisor: How Far is Too Far?
- Building Resilience-L.A. - what’s this about & why should you care
- SoCal’s Sustainable Airports
- Changing our Relationship to Water
- Affordable Net Zero Energy / Zero Carbon is Possible Today; also as Agent of Change
- Increasing Diversity in the Green Building Movement
- WELL – what is this new Certification & how does it work with LEED?
