GUEST COLUMN--What we've been waiting for: In gross but less than shocking news, a second sexual assault allegation against Brett Kavanaugh has surfaced. The New Yorker's indefatigable Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer report that this one, from freshman year at Yale, has the good judge exposing himself to classmate Deborah Ramirez ( photo above) at a drunken dorm party; though she is fuzzy on some details, she vividly recounts the essentials.
"I remember a penis being in front of my face," she said. “I knew that's not what I wanted, even in that state of mind.” She pushed the man away, “embarrassed and ashamed and humiliated ... Brett was laughing. I can still see his face ... Somebody yelled down the hall, ‘Brett Kavanaugh just put his penis in Debbie’s face.’”
In the last week, three sources in the same class at Yale and familiar with Ramirez's accusation also told NBC about it, and Senate Democrats had reportedly begun investigating it. Meanwhile, the GOP reacted as unconscionably as is humanly possible: When they heard about it, they tried to speed up the confirmation process - officially rendering them what one critic calls "a sexual predator protection racket" - and the White House is flatly denying the charges.
As news broke of the New Yorkerstory, Michael Avenatti upped the ante by announcing he is representing a woman "with credible information" about both Kavanaugh (photo right) and slimy bro Mark Judge - clarifying, "My client is not Deborah Ramirez - and he will be asking they be subpoenaed.
Also, a new poll finds 50% of respondents, a record high, oppose Kavanaugh's nomination. The poll was by Fox News. May everyone get what they deserve.
