LAFD Brush Clearance Unit Presentation

LAFD advises that the 2022 Brush Fire season commences on May 1. At our next meeting, the LAFD Brush Clearance Unit will give us a timely presentation, "Get Ready for Fire Season," with LAFD Captain Bryan Nassour and Inspectors Brent Kneisler or Warren Sutton of the Brush Clearance Unit. As LAFD warns: "Brush Fires continue to be a threat to lives and property within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone," i.e., all of the Palisades. See LAFD Brush.

Motion to Add Resilient Palisades
as a PPCC Member
. . . requires 2/3 vote of entire Board.Resilient Palisades has requested to become an organizational member of the PPCC Board. The PPCC Executive Committee supports the requested addition and will bring a motion before the Board to add Resilient Palisades as a rotating organizational member. Note: Pursuant to PPCC's Bylaws, a 2/3 vote of the entire Board (15 of 23 members) is required to admit a new member.

1st Distribution of Proposed Bylaws Amendments
The PPCC Bylaws Committee is recommending several important amendments to PPCC's Bylaws, including proposed changes to Appendix A ("Organizations eligible to send representatives"), i.e., the list of PPCC's organizational members.
Two distributions are required before a Board vote on the amendments. There will be an explanation and an opportunity for brief discussion at the March 24th meeting (the 1st Distribution); the 2nd Distribution will take place on April 14, with a full discussion and vote on the proposed amendments at that time.

"Cool Asphalt" Paving

As time allows, the Board will consider a motion recommended by the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils (WRAC) to support the use of "cool asphalt" in paving LA streets. For more information see the agenda linked above, Item 11.3.
Upcoming PPCC Meetings/Events
April 14, 2022 -- Board Meeting: 1) Disaster preparedness update by K.C. Soll; 2) 2nd distribution and vote on proposed bylaws amendments; 3) Appointment of Nominating Committee (to nominate PPCC officer candidates for the 2022-23 term).
April 27, 2022 -- Board Meeting: Topics to be announced.
May 3, 2023 -- CD 11 Candidates Forum: Hosted by Brentwood Community Council and PPCC, the forum will take place at 7pm via Zoom.
