Jay on LA is CityWatchLA’s video commentary series featuring longtime Los Angeles community advocate and CityWatch contributor Jay Handal.

Handal has spent decades involved in neighborhood and civic affairs and currently serves as treasurer of the West LA–Sawtelle Neighborhood Council. His work frequently focuses on City Hall accountability, city spending, neighborhood empowerment and the everyday decisions that affect Angelenos.

In Jay on LA, Handal brings that experience to video, offering direct commentary and conversations about Los Angeles government, politics, public policy and the challenges facing the city. The series has been featured on CityWatchLA since at least 2020 and has addressed issues ranging from homelessness and City Council actions to broader questions of how Los Angeles is governed.
