Where Are the Facts? The Unanswered Questions of the Trump Administration

Jack Webb as Detective Joe Friday from TV series, Dragnet

VOICES

AN AUTHOR'S VIEW - If the small boats from Venezuela were, as the Trump administration insists, running drugs headed to the U.S., what evidence supports lethal attacks against them? If there were contraband narcotics aboard, how did the administration know that? Did Venezuelan law enforcement flag the suspect boats? Where are the facts, the sources, and any other supportive evidence?

Kash Patel recently fired a student in the FBI’s agent training program because that student displayed an LGBT flag in the locker he used while working for the FBI (not as an agent) in Los Angeles. Patel said the flag violated government regulations about partisan displays. If the fellow in question had displayed a rendering of the President, a MAGA hat, or a “Trump 2028” bumper sticker, would Patel have fired him?

The President constantly and vigorously insists that he had absolutely no meaningful connections to or interactions with Jeffrey Epstein. If that is true, why are he and his justice department fighting tooth and nail to prevent the release of the information and evidence gathered when Epstein was investigated? If he is as pure as the driven snow, won’t the files prove it?

Is the war in Ukraine, which President Trump assured us he would end “on day one” over yet?

If the President and his party maintain majority control of the White House, the House, and the Senate, how are members of the minority party responsible when those in complete control cannot manage to pass a budget?

When dozens of lower courts find the actions of a sitting President to be illegal, unconstitutional, or both, but the Supreme Court overrides those rulings in order to ratify the actions of an all-powerful President, are we still a nation of laws? If SCOTUS consistently rejects decisions rendered by seasoned and experienced District judges and Appellate panels, what’s the point of having them?

Has the price of eggs gone down yet? Gas?

If a President can issue Executive Orders which flatly ignore acts or laws passed by Congress (including, for example, moving funds designated for Federal agency A and transferring those funds to Federal agency Y), why does Congress bother to specifically allocate funds?

When a Presidential appointee uses the power of his seat on the Federal Communication Commission to threaten or imply that broadcasting licenses can be revoked when the President doesn’t like what a critical station or network is saying about him, what, exactly, do “free speech” and “free press” mean?

If an elected official claims to have “ended” at least seven wars, is it unreasonable to expect that he can pronounce the names of the countries enjoying their newfound peace?

Should airline passengers not worry when the number of Air Traffic Controllers is significantly lower while the number of air traffic control system glitches steadily rise?

Is ICE exempt from the Fifth Amendment decree that “no person” (not “U.S. citizen”) shall be prosecuted or punished without “due process of law”? If not, exactly where and when are the fair and impartial hearings taking place?

What should farmers do with millions of tons of soybeans when China, the primary customer for soy grown in the U.S., refuses to import even one bean because of harsh tariffs?

Finally, who is responsible for all these troublesome problems?

A) Antifa

B) Joseph Biden

C) Barak Obama

D) Left Wing Radicals (aka “enemies of the state”)

E) All of the above?
