PRONOUNS & POLITICS - In southern Oregon this week, a battle over pronouns spilled from social media into a school board meeting where parents and other “concerned citizens” demanded the ouster of a nonbinary first-grade teacher.

LGBTQ POLITICS - In a historic first for the country, two gay candidates are running against each other in a general election for Congress – and they are absolute polar opposites.

LGBTQ - Out Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg very politely slammed a Republican official who called him a “weak little girl” in a homophobic tweet earlier this week.

LGBTQ - Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) says he will vote against the Respect for Marriage act, which would codify the right to same-sex marriage into federal law, on the basis of so-called “religious liberties.”

TRANSPHOBIA - Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is continuing to use extreme transphobia to attack President Joe Biden, this time sharing misinformation claiming that “children’s hospitals across the country” are performing gender affirming genital surgeries on minors as well as an image of what appears to be a severed hand.

LGBTQ POLITICS - Six out, Democratic LGBTQ candidates running for the Florida state legislature all won their primaries this Tuesday. All of them oppose the state’s “Don’t Say Gay” law.

LGBTQ POLITICS - Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) recently made headlines when he said that a bill to provide federal protections to the right to same-sex marriage a “stupid waste of time.”

SAME SEX MARRIAGE - The Senate is likely to delay a vote on the Respect for Marriage Act until September, according to out Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI).

LGBTQ POLITICS - Last week, 157 House Republicans voted against the Respect for Marriage Act, which would enshrine the right to same-sex and interracial marriage into law. 

LGBTQ POLITICS - Donald Trump denounced LGBTQ equality in a speech at the America First Policy Institute’s first annual summit yesterday as he signaled his intent to run again in 2024.

LGBTQ - Out Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg was asked about how the majority of House Republicans opposed last week’s Respect for Marriage Act (RMA) bill and about Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) claim that the bill was a “stupid waste of time.”

LGBTQ POLITICS - Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who has never been married, blamed former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for the Court’s ruling that stripped women of their constitutional right to decide their own medical care.
