DRIVE WATCH - A new study reveals that California faces the fifth-longest average travel time to work in the United States.
The research by global executive search firm Keller analyzed U.S. states based on the average mean travel time to work between 2021 and 2023. The results were calculated using U.S. Census data to rank where workers commute the most.
California ranks fifth with an average mean travel time of 28.37 minutes between 2021 and 2023. The Golden State saw a mean work commute of 27.6 minutes in 2021, 28.3 minutes in 2022, and 29.2 minutes in 2023.
Looking at the study, a spokesperson from Keller commented,
“California embodies America’s car-dependent commute culture. Los Angeles and the Bay Area, with sprawling suburbs and chronic congestion, drive up the state’s average even though smaller cities may experience shorter travel times.”
