BUDGET ADVOCATES

BUDGET ADVOCATES--Los Angeles Community College District is the largest community college district in the United States, and one of the largest in the world. The district consists of 9 campuses, and covers an area greater than 882 square miles.

In a special election to fill Sebastian Ridley Thomas’ Assembly seat, former LACCD Board of Trustees President, Sydney Kamlager (photo above) was elected into the 54thAssembly District, making way for viable candidates to seek the appointment for LACCD Board of Trustees seat #3. Los Angeles native, Dallas Fowler is seeking an appointment to the seat in 2018. In 2017, former Los Angeles City Commissioner, Dallas Fowler ran for seat 4 unsuccessfully against Ernest Moreno. Although Fowler entered the race late, she was endorsed by, United Teachers Los Angeles, Supervisor Sheila Keuhl, Dr. George McKenna and a host of Los Angeles City Council members. She received over 181,000 votes (46%) last year.

Other interested parties vying for the LACCD appointment are Dr. Christine Burke, Charter School Consultant and Sister of State Assembly member Autumn Burke and former California State Assembly member Warren Furutani.
