Electric Vehicle Mandates, Homeless Fixes, A Mideast Two-State Solution, and Other Utopian Myths

VOICES

ALPERN AT LARGE - Maybe someday the governments of Los Angeles, California, and the United States will mandate we all live to 100 years of age, be six-foot tall, muscular, and rich…because it does appear we’ve lost touch of that very painful ugly thing we call REALITY.

REALITY isn’t too fun, usually. In fact, REALITY often really, really sucks.

Electric vehicles (EV’s) are NOT selling, are NOT affordable, are NOT cost-effective, are NOT environmentally-friendly, and are only accessible to a few, more wealthy Americans who have no “limited budget issues”.

So President Biden or Governor Newsom can throw out an EV mandate to make the Mean Green Machine happy, but it’s predicated on science, economics, and other numbers that do NOT care about what we WANT so much as what IS.

We want homeless problems to be fixed without any pain or demands to the homeless, but REALITY dictates that there will be a need for the homeless to face both negative as well as positive consequences for their actions. Hence Proposition 1 barely passed.

Governor Newsom will tote Proposition 1 as a win, and maybe he’s sincerely earned that right to crow about his success…but it’s also his “baby” if REALITY demands that NOT all homeless in California can stay here, and/or avoid prison time if vagrancy and theft and drug abuse laws are perpetually flouted.

Furthermore, REALITY has demonstrated we have had lousy results from our “fix the homeless problem” investments at the city and county level, so REALITY suggests we might discover that those government-funded public sector and private-partnership workers aren’t able to, or interested in, fixing the problem.

Moving to the nightmare of the Middle East, REALITY dictates that if a nation (like the U.S. after December 7th, 1941 or after November 11th, 2001) with one voice declares “NO MORE!” to foreign aggressors, that nation won’t be stopped.

Ditto with Israel after October 7th, 2023, and if REALITY dictates that the previously politically-divided nation of Israel is united behind Prime Minister Netanyahu in eradicating Hamas and changing how Gaza is run and its children educated, then…

…REALITY dictates that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Oscar winner Jonathan Glazer to boot, use their Jewish identities to decry Israel that is united to prevent their own eradication, it will not be Netanyahu or Israel who will pay the price.

REALITY dictates that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is now well on his way to becoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in 2025 for his statements, which were anything BUT principled or brave or helpful.

Similarly, REALITY dictates that Director Jonathan Glazer is well on his way to becoming a persona non grata for his own statements, which like Schumer were anything BUT principled or brave or helpful.

And if President Joe Biden wants to follow Schumer’s lead, instead of Democratic Senator John Fetterman, then he will have a miserable political future this November.

Because badmouthing Israel for truly defending itself, and threatening to tear down and replace the currently-united government of Israel, goes against the REALITY of Israel’s history of “NEVER AGAIN” that means they will WIN like they did in 1948, 1967, and 1973.

And ditto with gaslighting Americans that President Biden couldn’t just have kept the border shut down when he became president in 2021…because REALITY means that blaming the GOP for not controlling the border while legally shutting down the GOP in Texas when take border control in their own hands is just plain…gaslighting.

Again and again and again, it’s not REALITY, and the “utopian” or “wishful thinking” or “magical thinking” of the Far Left is just plain insulting to those who have any shred of life experience and/or critical thinking.

Hence we may see the Far Left (which clearly has taken over the Democratic Party as much as did the Far Right take over the Republican Party in the 1980’s) result in a Red Wave Tsunami this November as things get worse economically and politically throughout the cities, counties, states, nations, and planet.

Utopia is just not REALITY, and we’re on our way to a REALITY this November that will be very unpleasant for the Far Left if it keeps imposing dictates and policies that any adult, teenager, or even mature child can see are just not sustainable.
