(As we head into 2015 CityWatch has asked some of the city’s political observers to list LA’s Top Five Issues. We will post their responses here over the next few weeks.  We invite you to submit your own Top Five LA Issues and/or tell us how you feel about their responses, below.)

1.)  Continuing loss of jobs unless city starts acting like it wants business.

2.)  City’s failure to control pension costs.

3.)  Ongoing marginalizing of neighborhood councils and disregard for citizen participation in government.

4.)  LAUSD’s failure to compete with charter schools in attracting students and parent support.

5.)  Metro’s inability to design and build a transit system that actually works for its customers.
