> CITYWATCH TODAY—Political nominating conventions are pretty much the same. There really is very little to distinguish one from the other. They are all loud and designed to manipulate. What gets negotiated in the hallways is far more important than what happens on stage or TV. 90% if what’s said fails ‘Fact Check’ and when you turn off the TV or check out to go home, the feeling is like eating a bowl of Jell-O. The bowl is empty but you’re still hungry.

There are flavors on the CityWatch menu other than convention conversation. **Bob Gelfand** turns up the heat on the film industry over their treatment of LA’s neighborhoods … and the Angelenos left in those ‘hoods … after the crews have packed up their cameras and gone home. And, **Julie** **Butcher** takes a leap into sports politics. In particular Mixed Martial Arts Fighters and their need to be organized. That’s ‘organized’ in the union sense of the word.
