VETERAN WELLNESS - Many different things inspire Americans who join the military. Some improve themselves physically and psychologically, or receive certain training or education. Some could be looking to contribute their skills and resources to be part of something greater than themselves. They could also join to guarantee the safety and well-being of every American and for the love of the country.

Many people entering the service may not be aware that they frequently pick up priceless abilities, qualities, and life lessons they would not have imagined. Even those who have not been on duty for decades, veterans afflicted with cancer, often call on the fortitude, will, and other qualities and talents they acquired during their days in uniform to battle their new foe. Here are tips on coping with cancer as a veteran.

### Summon Your Perseverance and Grit

Patients can be proactive in cancer treatment and care using perseverance and grit. These two traits might enable patients to be informed, inquire, and actively participate in their treatment planning. Cancer sufferers may experience empowerment and control.
