**The 1st Annual Rosie the Riveter Celebration is a community event that is free for everyone to attend. However, we also welcome donations of $25, which will help us cover additional expenses and ensure the success of the event. **Our** **art gallery will showcase the incredible diversity of women who work in the defense industry during WWII.** The artwork on display is truly inspiring highlighting the many wonderful contributions that women made to this field. The gallery celebrates the achievements of women who continue to break down barriers and carving out a place for themselves in traditionally male-dominated industries.

**CEO of Boyle Heights Community Partners** Vivian Escalante will share her grandmother's short story as a women defense worker during World War II. She worked at Lockheed Martin building military war planes. Despite the long hours and difficult working conditions, she was proud to be doing her part to support the war effort.

She talked about the camaraderie among the women in the factory and how they supported each other through the challenges they faced. She also spoke about the sense of purpose she felt knowing that her work was helping to protect the country and the freedoms it stood for.

She looked back on her time as a women defense worker with pride and gratitude for the opportunity to serve her country and learn new skills, at a time when women were considered for these difficult careers.
