**MEDIA WATCH**--What a day. The triumphal streets[ filled ](https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/11/07/jubilant-celebrations-outside-trump-white-house-nationwide-after-bidenharris-victory)with singular whooping, honking, dancing, weeping, hugging, pot-banging, flag-waving and soaring, curbside renditions of "America the Beautiful," which finally had something to celebrate.

In Philly, there were dancing [mailboxes](https://twitter.com/oolaurie1/status/1325123469726474245) - or as one giddy enthusiast marveled, "dancing fucking mailboxes!" In Brooklyn, residents and passing USPS trucks exultantly [cheered](https://www.commondreams.org/further/2020/11/06/pic.twitter.com/RURUtadYEt) each other. In Atlanta, people paid poignant[ tribute](https://nowthisnews.com/politics/late-rep-john-lewis-celebrated-online-as-georgia-voters-cement-his-legacy) to Martin Luther King and [John Lewis](https://twitter.com/TheRealHoarse/status/1325120339181936641), and assured powerhouse voting rights activist Stacey Abrams that she's earned the right to be "Secretary of Whateverdafukshewants."

On CNN, Van Jones tearfully[ praised](https://www.newsandguts.com/video/van-jones-gets-emotional-as-he-says-character-matters/?fbclid=IwAR0XGTmspqTVASnFXzMvKdoZyx-w0oYsGY5Hi8bhbZCNYmDXbDRatDO9zss) an American moment that allowed him to tell his kids, "Character matters." And across the country, joyous crowds celebrated feeling "freed from the clutches of evil" with signs proclaiming, "Trump's Over," "The People Have Chosen Empathy," "You're Fired," "Science/Grammar/Morality Wins," "He's Gone," "This Is What Democracy Looks Like" and "Union Saved."

While most of the world [concurred](https://apnews.com/article/election-2020-joe-biden-donald-trump-elections-anne-hidalgo-a4f71db8bab46c4dbc00bf02fe5ef3c1) - Paris' bells rang out and Mayor Anne Hidalgo [tweeted,](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/after-joe-biden-win-over-donald-trump-relief-sweeps-u-n1246725) "Welcome back, America!" - there was radio silence from Bolsonaro, Netanyahu and Putin, the daddy of them all, who's maybe not as Ding-Dong-the-Witch-Is-Dead[-happy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPIdRJlzERo&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR0aMWmr7HfxhjaPOb4_3HRQvt_tLFizA2pb4ft5Wz8lAjlzj6PHxwkDmBg) as the rest of us deliriously, incredulously, thank almighty God and all things good [rejoicing ](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/07/opinion/goodbye-donald-trump.html?referringSource=articleShare&fbclid=IwAR326yeru7GMDEVuvdw9MFHKmSWVzeMNmYSlCJiXEOvCk3u_lR3xMIODQAw)we're finally getting rid of him.

Justifiably, there was little sympathy for a fascist loser who "will never have another good day."

Some imagined the movie: "INTERIOR. NIGHT...A cell gate is slammed shut...A figure in an orange jumpsuit, huddled in the corner, long hair amiss on balding pate. For the very first time, he is afraid."

On the day of his defeat, he was golfing; he [left behind ](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/06/us/politics/mark-meadows-coronavirus.html?referringSource=articleShare)at least five new COVID cases in the White House, [including ](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-07/trump-s-chief-of-staff-mark-meadows-infected-by-coronavirus?srnd=politics-vp)Mark Meadows, and a surreal SNL skit of "a big [press conference"](https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/11/four-seasons-total-landscaping-trump-team-news-conference.html) led by a rabid Rudy Giuliani at Philly's Four Seasons - alas, thanks to his moronic team's usual acumen, [not the hotel](https://twitter.com/SlexAxton/status/1325141204418191361) but the landscaping company, between Fantasy Island Adult Books and a cremation center.

Yes. This - plus Miller, DeVos, ad nauseum - is what's over. Glad friends from Burundi - former asylum-seekers, now citizens - just voted in their first election. "I'm very happy today," the husband wrote us, "for I understand more the power of 'We The People.'"
