Editor’s Memo: Hiding in Plain Sight

WORLD WATCH

CITYWATCH TODAY—Los Angeles, actor and activist Mark Ruffalo says, is the nation’s largest urban oil field. More than 3,000 active wells pumping away literally in our back yards … and with devastating impact on our long-term health.

580,000 Angelenos live less than a quarter mile from an active oil well. Illness from this phenomenon is at a crisis level. Why aren’t our electeds doing something about it? Because, in part, it’s hard for the people … that would be you and me … to compete with the California oil lobby … that spent $60,000 a day … that’s right, a DAY … twisting the arms of legislators.

Ruffalo explains the weight of the crisis and tells us what we can do about it … in Today’s CityWatch. Lives are at stake. Truth has never been more urgent.

On another front...

in his current missive from Downtown, Jeff Paige takes us through the current trend of using the Fourth Amendment to defend against resisting arrest charges. And, an interfaith group, Beth Cone Kramer reports, has launched a gun control crusade. God vs. guns, you might call it.

And, there is the unique new CityWatch poll … Pulse LA … that lets you create your own questions. Fun and informative at the same time.

All of this and more … in Today’s CityWatch. Give it a read. Let us know what you think.
