#  Unions and Membership Organizations Turn to Technology to Give New Services to Their Members

Many unions had multiple database software packages in order to keep track of dues, grievances, health records, legal and more.

Information was difficult to manage in the past. The ability to instantly access information in real time, print reports, and communicate with members through automated processes just wasn't possible.

Many unions had multiple database software packages in order to keep track of dues, grievances, health records, legal and more.

With the advent of the Internet and cloud-based webware, multiple executives can now instantly pull information, run reports, and communicate with members from anywhere in the world on any Internet device, tablet, smartphone, etc.

One of the pioneers in Labor Union database management is LUDMS, Labor Union Data Management System, a product of Velarium LLC. They have put together a comprehensive, proprietary software that can be customized for each Union or Membership organization. The information is organized, synchronized, analyzed, automated and linked across all departments so that they can access relevant reports, including full financial and ledger integration.

Unions are finding that what used to take hours to manage membership data now takes minutes.

Because Velarium offers cloud-based services, clients benefit from cost savings due to economies of scale. Large database files, services, and applications are made available to users on-demand from the "cloud." This eliminates having to commit to expensive infrastructure costs or increased personnel and training.

This is what has attracted Jeff Pedicino, Executive Director of Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association which represents over 6400 law enforcement personnel. He was looking for a way to bring his union into the 21st century.

"I called other law enforcement unions that use Velarium and got nothing but high praise, how the program improves efficiencies, record keeping, and the ability to generate reports and make the staff attorneys more efficient in their jobs. Velarium is customizing and automating this for us, plus they are building a new website which will become the hub for everything we are doing.

Other similar unions currently using the Labor Union Data Management System include Fraternal Order of Police - Lodge 5 - Philadelphia and Los Angeles Police Protective League.

Velarium has seen time and time again that their Labor Union Data Management System benefits members by deferring increases in dues.
