ANIMAL WATCH - A man was killed on Saturday night, July 12, 2025 during a violent attack by two pit bulls in the backyard of his own home in Lancaster, CA, located in the northern part of Los Angeles County, [according to](https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/man-attacked-and-killed-by-2-pit-bulls-in-lancaster-authorities-say/ar-AA1IvXbG) KABC-7 News.). The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m.. but details as to why the dogs attacked were not yet known or were withheld at that time. The home is located on 22nd Street East, according to the Sheriff’s Department. One of the dogs was reportedly shot in the leg by a deputy to stop the attack.

It was not known if the victim was a resident of the home, and he was not identified. Deputies reported that he was transported to a local hospital, where he died later that night.

Four dogs, including puppies, were taken from the location by L.A. County Animal Control, according to reports. Video from the scene also shows a woman being taken into custody, [KABC reported](https://abc7.com/post/man-killed-2-pit-bulls-lancaster-attack-authorities-say/17100370/), and a deputy carrying a small child away from the home and placed in a patrol vehicle—a sad ending for all, and no indication of who will be held responsible, nor how much these continuing attacks are costing taxpayers.

**Girl, 1, Mauled, Killed by Family Pit Bull in Dover Township, Ohio**

On July 8, 2025, [WOIO reported](https://www.foxcarolina.com/2025/07/09/family-dog-kills-1-year-old-child-home-mother-injured-trying-prevent-attack/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLhgalleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFRS202RGYzUUJYRjJkR0xIAR4FXNhDwHAqn9GdgNGmFvDpNa7RLgzHRUXdAuS3M3bDlv1dCwBAGc43IeqxDQ_aem_Q1O13tBwIN_Wn94LVp4f-w) that a family’s Pit Bull fatally attacked a 1-year-old girl in Tuscarawas County.” Sheriff Orvis L. Campbell confirmed that deputies were called to the home on Lake Road in Dover Township for a fatal dog attack. just before 6 p.m. on July 2, 2025.

Initially, dispatchers said they couldn’t hear anyone speaking on a call that came in to 911, but, when they called back and connected, the mother said the family dog had just killed her baby.

Campbell said deputies arrived to find the 1-year-old girl with bites to her face and throat and pronounced Blakely Blosser (below) dead-on-scene. The County Coroner will rule on the official cause of her death.

The mother told deputies that she was “walking into the home with the child when the dog attacked.” Deputies observed defensive wounds on the mother from the attack, which were consistent with her claim that she was trying to protect her daughter.

According to Campbell, the mother told officials that “the dog did not have a history of attacking humans but had shown aggression to other dogs.”

Campbell said the father, who was not home during the attack, later euthanized the dog. No charges against the family are anticipated during a review by prosecutors, [according to Campbell](https://www.foxcarolina.com/2025/07/09/family-dog-kills-1-year-old-child-home-mother-injured-trying-prevent-attack/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLhgalleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFRS202RGYzUUJYRjJkR0xIAR4FXNhDwHAqn9GdgNGmFvDpNa7RLgzHRUXdAuS3M3bDlv1dCwBAGc43IeqxDQ_aem_Q1O13tBwIN_Wn94LVp4f-w).

On July 2, in South Bend, Indiana, a 5-year-old girl, named Nylah Jones, was reportedly attacked by two Pit Bulls while she and her 6-year-old brother were in a friend’s backyard.

It was around 7 p.m. when neighbors heard the screams of the little girl being attacked, [WNDU reports](https://www.wndu.com/2025/07/01/5-year-old-south-bend-girl-recovering-after-being-brutally-attacked-by-2-dogs/ "https://www.wndu.com/2025/07/01/5-year-old-south-bend-girl-recovering-after-being-brutally-attacked-by-2-dogs/").

The girl’s mother, Jillquisha Jones, heard her son also screaming, “Mom! Mom! . . .The dog is on Nylah.” The attack started just minutes after Nylah went into the yard, according to reports.

A neighbor described, “I saw her bringing the baby from the back. She was bloody. She was carrying her. She then met her mom, and she continued screaming, “We got to go to the hospital. . .It was just a really crazy scene.”

Nylah now has dozens of scars on her face, which doctors say could be lifelong. But what made her mother more upset,” she said, “was the reaction of the first responders, “At first, I just felt like they didn’t care,” Jones said. (Perhaps the cost of caring for repeated failures to protect children is just too great to show.)

The two dogs allegedly responsible for attacking Nylah were voluntarily turned over by their owners to the South Bend Animal Resource Center.

The City of South Bend told WNDU that bite reports are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, including the source of the report (victim, hospital report, police call, etc.) and the severity of the bite and/or the circumstances leading up to the incident.

SBARC [officials told WNDU](https://www.13abc.com/2025/07/03/5-year-old-girl-left-with-dozens-facial-scars-after-dog-attack-neighbors-backyard) they are aware of the alleged attack but cannot comment on the investigation.

**6-year-old airlifted after Pit Bull attack in Slidell, La, police say**

On July 7, 2025 The Slidell Police Department reported, “A 6-year-old suffered severe injuries after being attacked by a Pit Bull in Slidell, Louisiana, on Monday.”

The incident happened at a home off of West Hall Avenue around noon, according to Slidell PD, and the dog belonged to the family and was temporarily chained in the backyard when the child was attacked; and, due to the severity of the injuries, was airlifted to a hospital in New Orleans.

"This is a tragedy that hits all of us in the heart," said Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal [in a statement](https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/local/northshore/6-year-old-airlifted-after-pit-bull-attack-in-slidell-police/289-b86222c5-d1a3-4acb-9c38-92b48af88d85). "Our hearts are with this child and their family, and we’re praying for strength, healing, and hope in the days ahead." Slidell Animal Control has taken possession of the dog,” he [announced](https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/local/northshore/6-year-old-airlifted-after-pit-bull-attack-in-slidell-police/289-b86222c5-d1a3-4acb-9c38-92b48af88d85).

**WHO IS REALLY PAYING FOR PIT BULL ATTACKS?**

With taxes, insurance, the cost of living, and dog attacks at an all-time high, how much more do we expect responsible pet owners and taxpayers to pay for damages nationwide by a breed of dog intended to fight and kill larger and more aggressive animals, and whose bloodlines survived only in proportion to its skill to do so?

Do not be fooled that dog-fighting is just being done by gangs and teenagers in the streets. It has historically been popular with many professional athletes, politicians and public figures, as well as known criminals.

It is a thriving, multi-million-dollar enterprise that has been more visible and made even more popular by the ability to hide or reproduce the dogs "in plain sight" through promoting them as America's dog.

It is time for America--and the rest of the world--to stand up for the safety of communities and families and other animals by taking back its right to restrict or ban any breed or any dog that poses a danger.

It is already too late for too many, including innocent families, where trusting this breed--and the propaganda about it--has cost their life or that of someone they love.
