**420 FILE**--In [a new poll from Quinnipiac University](https://poll.qu.edu/california/release-detail?ReleaseID=2599), California voters say legalizing marijuana has been good for the state, by a margin of 54 - 31 percent. Hispanic respondents had a slight edge over Whites, and men say 59 - 26 percent that legalizing marijuana has been good, compared to 49 - 35 percent among women.

420 FILE--A record 64 percent of Americans believe that marijuana should be legal for recreational consumption, according to a [recent Gallup national poll](http://news.gallup.com/poll/221018/record-high-support-legalizing-marijuana.aspx?utm_source=social&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=organicsocial). That figure marks the highest point since the group started polling on the topic back in 1969. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise: With the drug [legal](http://www.governing.com/gov-data/state-marijuana-laws-map-medical-recreational.html) in 29 states and the District of Columbia and legislative pushes [gaining momentum](https://ballotpedia.org/History_of_marijuana_on_the_ballot#tab=2016_2) on state ballots, it seems recreational marijuana legalization is an inevitability.
