On February 22nd, CANOW is doing a special fundraising event at the Fairmount Hotel in Newport Beach with the actress Geena Davis. This event will benefit The California Commission on the Status of Women - a non-partisan organization that promotes equality and justice for all women and girls by advocating on their behalf with the Governor, the Legislature and other public policymakers.

In his 2012/2013 Budget Proposal, Governor Jerry Brown announced the elimination of the California Commission on the Status of Women-the ONLY state agency that for 47 years has been mandated to advocate for gender equity in state governance.

Please join California NOW, the Women's Foundation of California, the American Association of University Women (CA), U.S. National Committee for UN Women and the National Women's History Project in support of the Commission's work on behalf of California women.
