New Discovery: A Bottomless Cup o’ Joe … A Measly $1.85

ARCHIVE

Like everyone else in Hollywood, I do have a screenplay in the works. The other day, I got the grand idea to take my show on the road and work on my script at a coffee shop – you know, like you always see those people do. Everyone looks so smart, intent on their laptop screens, sipping joe and munching on some bistro dish.

One of the best places to go for this kind of activity is Stir Crazy at 6903 Melrose Avenue. The coffee is good and, at $1.85 for a bottomless cup, it really can’t be beat with a stick.

Dino is the owner’s name and he was there during my visit, and he’s friendly as all get out. He was the one making the food. Quite the cook he is too. The menu is varied and reasonable – with a killer Greek salad for $5.95 that is just huge.

It’s a small shop and Cory the barista, a student at a nearby college, makes everyone feel right at home.

There is interesting artwork on the walls, changing out from time to time.

The Wi-Fi is free with a signal that is strong enough to actually use; and, hey, like I say, the owner was there and he never gave me the stink eye like he wanted me to move along. He just smiled and said hi as he walked on by with another luscious Greek salad.

I guess the bottomless cup feature on the menu speaks for itself… They’re not trying to rush anyone out of there.

The seats are comfy and there’s a patio that faces Melrose where you can people watch and get inspiration for all the multi-dimensional characters you have going on in your script or novel.

All in all, it was a satisfying, entertaining and productive experience. So, I recommend, when you feel like you’ve got to get out of the house or office, go Stir Crazy!
