Hollywood: The Fight Goes On!

ARCHIVE

NEIGHBORHOODS - A unified coalition of concerned Hollywood neighborhood associations, neighborhood councils and residents have been introducing a mountain of data and documentation into the administrative record proving that the Hollywood Community Plan Update is fatally flawed.

The Planning and Land Use Management Committee and the whole City Council have only two paths forward. Return the plan update to the City Planning Department to correct the flaws or face an expensive legal challenge in which the court is sure to note the flaws and force the City Council to do so.

The temptation for the City Council is to not send the plan update back to the City Planning Department. After all, it’s not their money they would be wasting. It’s our money they would be wasting. We must show up in force at the next PLUM meeting on Tuesday, May 8th at 2:30 pm in City Hall, room 350 to let them know that we are fully aware of the plan’s numerous defects and that we will not tolerate a “so sue us” attitude.

The last Planning and Land Use Management Committee meeting was held on April 17 with very little public testimony. The Committee allotted this vital issue only 15 minutes of public testimony. The neighbors were enraged that 2/3 of their voices were stifled. We must demand that ALL will get to speak at this very last PLUM hearing on the plan update.

Your presence at this hearing could make a huge difference. You don’t have to speak. But they need to see the faces of those in Hollywood who protest this plan.

If you plan to attend, please contact the City Council office at 213-485-3337 to get free parking. Call them the afternoon before or the morning of the meeting.

If you would like more information, want to sign the petition, register for direct updates or if you just want to watch the testimony from the last PLUM hearing, please go to SaveHollywood.org.
