Editor’s Memo: Developer’s Have Dreams Too

WORLD WATCH

CITYWATCH TODAY—Rick Caruso is one of the most important developers in the nation. Certainly in Southern California. His Grove welcome’s as many guests through the gate as does Disneyland.

Caruso is also a dreamer. That’s how the Grove came about. He’s working on yet another dream in the Mid City neighborhood … on La Cienega near 3rd Street … where he washed cars as a kid and where he will offer a unique plan for affordable housing that will provide the same benefits offered in the luxury units. Caruso and the neighborhood are in a bit of a tussle at the moment over his dream project. CityWatch columnist Tim Deegan explains … in Today’s CityWatch.

In the meantime, a couple of SoCal Congresswomen are out hustling votes to support career changes. Janice Hahn is looking to nail down a County Supervisor job … same as her dad did some years ago … and Loretta Sanchez wants Barbara Boxer’s Senate seat. Both are in a bit of a pickle.

Ms. Hahn, it appears, has misused some campaign funding and is doing what many politicians do these days: stop taking calls and hope it all magically goes away. Daniel Guss is on the Hahn caper.

Ms. Sanchez’ problem is her opponent Kamala Harris … well known and popular California Attorney General and leading in the polls by a gazillion points. Jack Humphreville is working the Sanchez beat.

Get inside these two stories in Today’s CityWatch. Then … let us know what you think.
