City Council President Eric Garcetti has called for the Department of
Recreation and Parks to come on down to council chambers and explain
the millions of dollars in unspent funds that have been designated for
city parks and outdoor projects improvement.
“It is troubling,” Garcetti said, “that in Los Angeles … where families are begging for more green and open space … we’ve got millions of dollars earmarked for that purpose that are going unspent.”
The City currently has more than $75 million in unspent Quimby funds. (City Council-City Hall-10 a.m. Agenda at www.lacity.org )
