Edited by David Lowell

The LaBrea Coalition lawsuit against the City is about to get a court date. The Trial Setting Hearing is set for September 29.
Active ImageLucille Saunders (video-Saunders explains her lawsuit ) and her coalition of neighborhood groups and activists claim that the LA Annual Growth and Infrastructure Review … required by law … has not been produced since 1998. Literally millions of building permits are currently being issued based on a decade old. The suit asks the court to put a halt to the permitting until planning decisions can be based on current and relevant information.

A number of other community organizations have joined in the suit. The LA Neighborhood Council Coalition and the Saving LA Project have voted to support the LaBrea Coalition’s effort and some neighborhood councils are considering some kind of official support.

The suit was filed in June. The City responded August 23 with a perfunctory denial of all claims.
