Acco Unveils Tool For Buildings To Evaluate Energy Usage

ARCHIVE

GLENDALE, CA – ACCO Engineered Systems unveiled its proprietary Online Energy Usage Index tool today, offering building owners and managers the opportunity to gauge potential energy savings in their local markets.  As one of the first in the industry to incorporate this type of functionality into its website, ACCO hopes to help customers to become more energy conscious while ultimately saving money on skyrocketing utility bills.

Recognizing the need for a quick and easy way for commercial building owners and operators to evaluate energy usage compared to like buildings in the region, ACCO’s mechanical services team built this online tool to provide localized benchmarks that indicate opportunities for improved efficiencies and savings.  A brief visit to www.accoservice.com with a recent utility bill and the facility’s type (i.e. office building, hospital, school, restaurant, etc.) and square footage will tell users how much energy is being consumed on average versus comparable structures in the area.

“In the past, commercial customers have had to wade through a maze of technical information to figure out how they could save money on energy usage.   ACCO is uniquely positioned to offer decades of experience through this tool, and then follow up with real suggestions on how to improve energy demand and lower costs,” said Jacob Coble, General Manager, Los Angeles, ACCO Engineered Systems.  “In less than 10 minutes, a facility manager can tell whether there is a problem or not, and can be well on the way to making changes that will lower utility bills dramatically.”

This tool is sure to help reduce the impact of the critical peak pricing mandate currently being implemented by California’s utility companies.  With ACCO's online Energy Usage Index application, facilities will be compared to the Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS), which has been completed by the U.S. Department of Energy - Energy Information Administration (EIA). This information sets the baseline Energy Usage Indexes for like facilities. Energy Usage Index is a measurement of energy consumption per building square foot.
